We've been a B Corporation for 1 year!! We talk a lot about being a B Corp but do you actually know what it is? Well, it's a company that meets rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Every 2 years we must prove that we meet certain standards and that we are always striving to improve in order to be re-certified. It took A LOT of work (and a few years) to get certified. We couldn't have done it without the help of our fabulous B Corp community here in Guelph! You can see how we achieved our B Corp certification here: https://www.bcorporation.net/community/neighbourhood-group-of-companies #BCorpMonday #BTheChange
This week’s Beyond The Plaid is our talented server Simon! Favourite menu item: duck breast Simon has been with us since day 1 so we’ve gotten to know him quite well! Simon has a background in acting, writing and directing which means he runs circles around us in his ability to memorize and present our chef features. He currently spends his weekdays working as a neurobiologist but he spends his weekends serving at Miijidaa. In his free time Simon can be found with his 4 kids playing dress up or going to the park. #BeyondThePlaid #LetsEat
Today we're celebrating our Irish Canadian heritage! Another Irish Canadian we're grateful for is Patrick Burns. Pat was known as the "Cattle King" of Western Canada in the 1890s and early 1900s. He's considered to be a big contributor to making the Alberta Beef industry so well known and he also started up the Calgary Stampede. Today we're celebrating Pat's contributions with an irish beef neck stew as our chef feature!
